Former police chief

NATCHITOCHES – Services for former police chief Col. Harry Hyams, III are pending. He died Dec. 6 at age 82.

Hymans, a retired National Guard colonel was Natchitoches police chief for many years and also worked with the Probation and Parole Board in Winn and Natchitoches Parishes.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter.

Noted guitarist

ANACOCO – Services will be Wednesday for country and western guitarist Dale Weaver. He died Dec. 11 at age 74.

He was a professional lead guitarist for 10 years in Nashville and was staff guitarist for the Louisiana Hay Ride. He was retired from federal Civil Service.

Survivors include his wife Carol a son and three daughters.

Arrangements are by Labby Memorial, Leesville.

Freeport engineer, exec

NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Friday for former Freeport Sulphur executive and engineer DeWitt Morris, Sr. He died Dec. 8 at age 95.

While with Freeport, Morris was chief engineer of several sulphur mines in South Louisiana, including the largest offshore mineral production rig in the world at Grand Isle. He later was chief of personnel and human relations at Freeport.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Johnson.
