Long-time city clerk

SHREVEPORT – Services for Shreveport City Clerk of Court Virginia Hester will be Friday. She died Feb. 7 at age xx.

She had been employed by the city since 1970.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Bond attorney, civic leader

BATON ROUGE – Services for pre-eminent bond attorney Fred Benton, Jr. will be Thursday. He died Feb. 7 at age 87.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was Baton Rouge’s bonding attorney for more than 30 years.

He was past president of the Navy League and was instrumental in locating the USS Kidd and Naval Museum in Baton Rouge.

Survivors include his wife Mary and six children.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Noted music teacher

BATON ROUGE – Services for acclaimed musician and piano teacher Marietta Lanoux will be Saturday. She died Feb. 2 at age 80.

She taught piano for more than 50 years and was a former La. Music Teachers Assn. outstanding teacher of the year. She was former president of the several music organizations and created the Chamber Music Players’ program for young musicians.

Survivors include several children.
