Noted decoy carver

BALL – Services for nationally acclaimed decoy duck carver Harry Thibodeaux will be Friday. He died March 13 at age 91.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was retired chief of special services at the VA Hospital, Pineville, and a founder of the Catahoula Lake Heritage Foundation. He was a nationally known and recognized master decoy carver.

Survivors include his wife Effie, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros., Pineville.

Highway contractor

MONROE – Services for highway contractor Robert Bentz will be Friday. He died March 14 at age 92.

He and his wife’s brother, Earsel Elmore, established Bentz and Elmore Construction, specializing in heavy highway construction. he also operated R.E. Bentz Inc. Crushed Stone. His family operated the first ice company in the Monroe area.

Survivors include a son and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.
