FORT SMITH, Ark. –Services for former Louisiana all-state basketball player and ULL employee Sister Virginia deGravelle will be Saturday. She died March 21 at age 72.
She was an all-state basketball player at Mt. Carmel Academy, New Iberia. After graduation ULL, she was an accountant there and later worked as Director of Volunteer Services at the University Medical Center. She was also on the board of Billeaud Companies (real estate and development). She entered St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith at age 53 and was on the advisory board of St. Vincent Hospital, Morrilton, Ark.
Survivors include a brother and a sister.

Bakery owner
CROWLEY – Services for businesswoman and civic leader Virginia Ruddock will be Saturday. She died March 20 at age 89.
She was owner of Ruddock’s Bakery and active in a number of civic organizations.
Survivors include two sisters.
Arrangements are by Geesey-Ferguson.
Laundry owner
NATCHITOCHES – Services for businessman James Conant will be Saturday. He died March 14 at age 87.
He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the European Campaign, World War II and operated Conant’s Cleaners.
Survivors include five children.
Arrangements are by Winnfield.
Long-time coach
MANSFIELD – Services for long-time football coach and educator Fred Carter will be Saturday. He died March 19 at age 64.
He was football coach at Mansfield High for four years and formerly coached at Logansport High for many years. He was an administrative assistant at Mansfield High until 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie and two sons.
Arrangements are by Jenkins.
Prep All-American, businessman
SHREVEPORT – Services for former high-school All American football player and businessman Pat Shows will be Saturday. He died March 21 at age 69.
He was an All-American at Ruston High and played football at Louisiana Tech. He owned insurance companies and a nationally recognized automobile warranty company.
Survivors include his wife Helen, a son and a daughter.
