Long-time School Board member

BASTROP – Services for long-time School Board member George Estep, Jr. will be Tuesday. He died April 1 at age 84.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and career employee of International Paper. He was a Morehouse Parish School Board member for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife Sue and four sons.

Decorated pilot, acclaimed coach

KAPLAN – Services for decorated fighter pilot and former high school coach of the year Lt. Col. Frank Hardy will be Tuesday. He died March 26 at age 83.

He was a U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard pilot for 28 years and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, the Berlin and Cuban missile crises and the Vietam War, in which he flew 100 combat missions. After retiring from the military, he was Louisiana State Coach of the year for his work at Meaux High School. He then coached in Midland, Lacassine and Centerville, winning several more titles and awards. He was a Social Studies teacher.

Survivors include his wife Marlene, four sons and a daughter.

Banker, civic leader

CROWLEY – Services are Monday for banker and civic leader Richard Seale. He died March 29 at age 81.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired president, CEO and board chairman of First National Bank. He was a Public Affairs Research Council trustee, board member of WestPac, past president of a number of civic organizations, Crowley Citizen of the Year and Junior Livestock Show enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife Julia, a son and two daughters.

Ad exec, telephone florist

NEW ORLEANS – Services are Tuesday for award-winning advertising executive, jeweler and florist Granville Semmes, II. He died March 30 at age 84.

Semmes was a long-time account executive with WWL-TV. He operated two jewelry stores in French Quarter hotels and was founder of 1-800-Flowers, one of the country’s earliest telephone-credit card businesses and was a noted preservationist.

Survivors include his wife Jane and eight children.

Decorated vet, School Board member

MARINGOUIN – Services for decorated veteran and former school board member Charles Row, III will be Monday. He died March 29 at age 86.

He held the Bronze Star for U.S. Army heroism at the Seig River Assault Crossing in Germany during World War II. He was retired general manager for New York Life and former member of the Iberville Parish School Board.

Survivors include his wife Ann and two children.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst, Baton Rouge.

Long-time minister

ZACHARY – Services for long-tme minister the Rev. Miner Dixson, Sr. will be Monday. He died March 30 at age 90.

He was a Southern Baptist minister for more than 50 years at a number of Louisiana and Mississippi churches.

Survivors include a daughter and a son.
