Pediatrician, allergist

ALEXANDRIA – Services for retired pediatrician and allergist Dr. Albert Hensel, Jr. will be Friday. He died Dec. 17 at age 93.

He was a football player at the University of Missouri and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After practicing some time as a pediatrician, he returned to college and became certified in allergy and immunology.

He assisted in the founding of the American Association of Certified Allergists and was former president of the American College of Allergists. He also taught at Washington University School of Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine and was a lecturer at LSU School of Medicine. He was a founder of the Alexandria Aquatic Club and former president of the La. Pecan Growers Assn.

Survivors include his wife Georgia; two sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Night club owner

MARKSVILLE – Services for former owner of the legendary Pelican Club Ina Bell Bordelon will be Friday. She died Dec. 19 at age 90.

She was also a former banquet coordinator for an Alexandria motel.

Survivors include two sons and three daughters.

Former McNeese music librarian

BATON ROUGE – Services for former McNeese University music librarian Joyce Babb will be Saturday. She died Dec. 9 at age 83,

She was a pianist as well as a music teacher and accomplished amateur tennis player.

Survivors include a son.
