Long-time clerk of court

MARKSVILLE – Services are Monday for retired Clerk of Court Sammy Couvillon. He died Jan. 4 at age 70.

He retired after 33 years as Avoyelles Parish clerk of court.

Survivors include his wife Claudette and two sons.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Director of blind services

BATON ROUGE – Services for former state director of blind services Vernon Broussard, Sr. will be Tuesday. He died Jan. 4 at age 94.

He was a US Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II. As director of blind services for the La. Dept. of Social Services he started the Lighthouse for the Blind. He was a founding board member of the original St. Vincent de Paul Dinin Room and oversaw construction of the Catholic Presbyterian Apartments.

Survivors include eight children.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Long-time banker, decorated aviator

MANSFIELD – Services for decorated aviator and former banker Walter Dorroh, Sr. will be Wednesday. He died Jan. 5 at age 93.

He was a pilot in North Africa, Italy and Eastern Europe during World War II. He was former president of Olla State Bank, president and CEO of the Bank of Jena and CEO and chairman of the board of Mansfield Bank and Trust, which became Community Bank of Louisiana.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.
