BATON ROUGE -- Services were Saturday for decorated veteran and businessman T.J. Lewis. He died at age 89.
He was a US Army veteran of the European Theater of World War II and held the Bronze Star. He owned Capital City Business Services and Lewis and Rogers Insurance Agency.
Survivors include his wife Georgia, three sons and a daughter.
Arrangements were by Resthaven.
Broadcaster introduced Elvis at Hayride
SHREVEPORT – Services for Louisiana Hayride broadcaster Frank Page are Tuesday. He died Jan. 9 at age 87.
He retired after 65 years of radio broadcasting and was best known as the person who introduced Elvis Presley to the world on the stage of the Hayride, the state’s version of the Grand Ole Opry. The recording of that introduction has been released in album form in 25 languages.
Survivors include his wife Helen and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.
Former legislator, DOTD captain
MONROE – Services for former legislator William “Edge” Richardson will be Tuesday. He died Jan. 12 at age 89.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and owned a business for almost 30 years following the war. During that time he was elected to Louisiana House from Caldwell Parish. Later, he was five-parish captain for the DOTD Weights Enforcement Division.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Riser and Son, Columbia.
Retired colonel helped 'wire' Air Force
LAFAYETTE – Memorial services were Monday for retired Air Force colonel and petroleum engineer William Gray. He died Dec. 13 at age 76.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and held the Bronze Star. During his military career he was on the small team that put the Air Force online with computers. After retirement he worked for Tenneco and Chevron.
Survivors include his wife Buddie Lee, a son and two daughters.
Retired Navy commander, public works director
ALEXANDRIA – Services for retired US Navy commander and West Point instructor Richard Larson will be Wednesday. He died Jan. 11 at age 83.
His military career included commanding the destroyer USS Mansfield, serving as aide to Admiral Anderson at Pearl Harbor and teaching military history at the U.S. Military Academy. After retirement, he was an executive with Brown & Root and later became director of public works in Bellaire, Texas.
Survivors include his wife Nadine, a son and three daughters.
Arrangements are by John Kramer and Son.
