Evangel founder

SHREVEPORT – Services will be Tuesday for Assembly of God pastor and founder of Evangel Christian Academy Rodney Duron. He died March 16 at age 88.

He was long-time senior pastor at First Assembly of God in Cedar Grove and founded Evangel in 1982.

Survivors include his wife Frances and a son.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Former police jury association president

CATAHOULA – Services for former president of the La. Police Jury Association Loyd “Red” Higginbotham, Sr. will be Monday. He died March 14 at age 86.

He was owner and operator of Red’s Levee Bar and various other businesses. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was an elected official for 42 years, including justice of the peace and parish councilman.

Survivors include a son and four daughters.

Arrangements are by Pellerin.

Catfish Cabin owner, restaurant association officer

MONROE – Services for long-time restaurant owner James Hearn, Sr. will be Monday. He died March 15 at age 84.

He was founder and owner of Catfish Cabin Restaurant, which has been operating here for 40 years. He was on the Louisiana Seafood Marketing and Promotion Board and had served as vice president, secretary and treasurer of the Louisiana Restaurant Assn.

Survivors include his wife Janis and several children and step-children.

Arrangements are by Mulhearn.

Former Texaco exec

METAIRIE – Services for former Texaco executive James Gibbens, Sr. were Saturday. He died March 14.

He was retired corporate vice-president of Texaco’s Southeast U.S. Producing Department. He was a former Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association Man of the Decade.

Survivors include seven children.

Arrangements were by Lakelawn.

Former Rich Plan president

RIVER RIDGE – Services for former Rich Plan Corp. president Donald Loehr will be Monday. He died March 13 at age 89.

He was national marketing director for Rich for many years, and retired as president of the company. He was on the national board of the Direct Selling Association.

Survivors include his wife Virginia and three children.

Arrangements are by Lakelawn.

Retired IBM exec

COVINGTON – Services for retired IBM marketing executive James Key were Sunday. He died March 14 at age 74.

He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a marketing consultant after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife Victoria and seven daughters.

Arrangements were by E.J. Fielding.

Nursing, community homes owner, former LSU cheerleader

EUNICE – Services for nursing home and community home owner and former LSU cheerleader Frankie J. LaFleur, Sr. will be Monday. He died March 15 at age 73.

He was a 1962 graduate of LSU, where he was on the cheerleader squad.He owned and operated a pharmacy for years before founding Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro and Oaklane Wellness & Rehab in Eunice. He and his wife Mamie also founded Eunice Developmental Center, Liberty 6 Community Homes in Eunice and Ville Platte and South Louisiana Community Homes in Thibodeaux.

Other survivors include three children.

Educator, former police juror

CROWLEY – Services for educator and former police juror Richard Arnaud were Friday He died March 11 at age 77.

He was long-time director of the Louisiana Vocational-Technical School in Crowley and a former police juror.

Survivors include his wife Jo-Anne and three daughters.

Arrangements are by Geesey-Ferguson.
