Long-time history professor

MONROE – Arrangements are pending for long-time UL-Monroe history professor H. Perry Jones. He died March 19 at age 83.

Jones was on the ULM faculty for almost 50 years. before retiring in May 2012. Professional honors during his career included being named the state’s most outstanding college history teacher by Daughters of the American Revolution.

Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.

Former POW, Pentagon official

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Services for retired colonel and former director of Airforce Staff Board Structure in the Pentagon Velfort DeArmon, Jr. will be Thursday. He died March 15 at age 93.

He was a graduate of Pride, La. High School and attended LSU. He was a World War II veteran (B-26) of the Army Air Corps, a former POW and also a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife Barbara and two sons.
