Deputies arrest for shoplifts, desertion

Elizabeth Hinton, 52, of Main Street in Patterson was arrested Tuesday at 5:48 p.m. for theft by shoplifting.

A deputy was called to Wal-Mart in Bayou Vista in reference to a shoplifter. Upon the deputy’s arrival, a manager was pointing at a vehicle attempting to leave the parking lot. The deputy detained Hinton’s vehicle and conducted an investigation. A manager said that Hinton was observed taking make-up items valued at $67.

After investigation, Hinton was placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on Sept. 14.

David Bias, 27, of Grace Street in Siracusa was arrested Tuesday at 11:40 p.m. on warrants for child desertion and a warrant from Morgan City Police Department for theft by shoplifting.

A deputy was called to above location in reference a disturbance. When the deputy arrived Bias was observed standing on the porch of the residence. During investigation it was learned of warrants for Bias’ arrest.

Bias was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail without bond.
