Deputies make marijuana arrests

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Michael Terrance Theirry, 46, of Sandra Street in Morgan City, was arrested 10:02 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for theft. Theirry turned himself in at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail and held. Theirry was released on $1,000 bail.

—Marty Romero, 25, of Diane Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 11:31 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. Romero turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. He was released on a $2,500 bail.

—Pebbles Francois, 48, of Everrett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:13 p.m. Thursday for failure to signal, possession of marijuana and switched license plate. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal when turning on to Greenwood St. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with driver identified as Francois. During the investigation, detectives were granted verbal consent to search and located marijuana on Francois, the report stated. Detectives also learned that the vehicle’s license plate had been switched. Francois was released on a summons to appear in court May 21.

—Chantal Ruffin, 23, of James St., Siracusaville, was arrested on Thursday at 4:43 p.m. for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, violation of controlled dangerous substance law (Drug Free Zone), transactions involving drug proceeds, and two counts resisting an officer by force.

—Amber Taylor, 23, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:43 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives conducted an investigation on James Street in Siracusaville. During the investigation, detectives located marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,850 and approximately $350 in U.S. currency.

Ruffin was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set. Taylor was released on a summons to appear in court May 21.
