Diettra Vance Aucoin, 66, a native of Jennings and resident of Morgan City, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Diettra enjoyed spending time with her family, who she deeply loved. She was known for her cooking, especially her delicious chili. Often her family would gather around the meal she prepared especially for them.
Diettra was an avid Saints fan, known for cheering loudly for the team as she watched them play. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
Diettra is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry Aucoin of Morgan City; five loving children, Renee Scully of Bayou Vista, Annette Aucoin of Morgan City, Larry Aucoin of Morgan City, Karen Thibodeaux and her husband Carl of Morgan City and Dean Aucoin of Morgan City; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Vance; her mother, Rosemary Macfarlen Vance; three children, Larry Aucoin Jr., Lenes Aucoin and David Aucoin; one son-in-law, Roger Scully; and one brother, Joemac Macfarlen.
The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City with visitation resuming Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 9 a.m. until time of services.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home with graveside services following in the Morgan City Cemetery.
