Local officials gathered this morning for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cypress Park complex, which will be constructed in Morgan City and will include a passive park at the site of the former Swamp Gardens as well as a second baseball field adjacent to the current Complex Park. The majority of the project is being funded by the H&B Young Foundation. Among those present were members of the city’s Recreation and Park Commission, H&B Young Foundation President Brenda Ayo, city Director of Recreation and Culture Bart Mancuso, state Rep. Joe Harrison, R-Labadieville, Mayor Tim Matte, Youth Recreation Director Seth Thomas and project engineer Lucien Cutrera.
