District tourneys are set to begin

District 3 tournaments for local 9-, 10- and 11-year-old Dixie Youth squads will begin today in Thibodaux at Peltier Park.

In the 9-year-old tournament, Morgan City, Thibodaux and Franklin will compete for top honors.

Today, Morgan City and Thibodaux will play at 6 p.m., while on Friday, Thibodaux and Franklin will play at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Morgan City and Franklin will play at 2 p.m.

A championship game is set for Sunday at 2 p.m., and, if necessary, a second game will be played Monday at 6 p.m.

In the 10-year-old District 3 AAA Tourney, St. Mary Central, Patterson, Bayou Boeuf, Franklin, Morgan City and Thibodaux will compete.

Action will begin today with a 4 p.m. matchup between Patterson and St. Mary Central, while at 6 p.m., Bayou Boeuf and Franklin will play, followed by Morgan City and Thibodaux at 8 p.m.

Bracket play in the double elimination tournament will continue through Monday when a champion will be crowned, either in a 6 p.m. matchup, or if necessary, an 8 p.m. matchup.

In 11-year-old action, the District 3 tournament will begin today with an 8 p.m. matchup between Morgan City and Thibodaux.

On Friday, Thibodaux and Franklin will meet at 8 p.m., while on Saturday, Morgan City will play Franklin at 4 p.m.

A champion will be crowned, either in a 4 p.m. Sunday game or an 8 p.m. matchup on Monday.

In St. Mary Parish, the Pony 13 Super Region Tournament will begin Friday at the Bayou Vista Community Center.

The three-team, double elimination tournament will begin at 6 p.m. with two Lafayette area squads, Brown Park and CSA, facing off.

The winner will play at 8 p.m. Friday against St. Mary.

Play will continue Saturday with a championship game set for 1 p.m. If necessary to crown a champion, a second game will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.

The winner of the Bayou Vista tournament will advance to the Pony 13 Zone Tournament in Houston later this month.
