SHREVEPORT – A man was killed when his pickup crashed into an 18-wheeler on an interstate access ramp Wednesday.

Police said Phillip Chamberlain, 69, of Bossier City died when his truck collided with the big rig at the I-220 onramp at North Market Street.

Police said according to a witness the traffic light on North Market was red when Chamberlain’s pickup moved into the right lane to avoid a car in the left lane and struck the 18-wheeler, which had the green arrow to turn left onto the ramp from southbound North Market.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Jeannie M. Blake of Independence, was taken to Willis-Knighton Medical Center on Greenwood Road for treatment of minor injuries.
