State Police said Aden L. Greek, 53, crossed the center line and hit an 18-wheeler head-on.
Greek died at the scene, and the driver of the 18-wheeler had minor injuries.
Greek was driving a utility truck that a witness said was traveling at a high rate of speed crossed the center line of Hwy. 90 west of Mermentau and struck an 18-wheeler head on.
A woman who was traveling behind the 18-wheeler struck the truck from behind and had to be extricated. She was transported to an area hospital. Her injuries were said to be moderate.
