State Police said the Lafourche Parish accident happened about 6 p.m. Friday on Bayou Blue Bypass Road.
Steven Guidry, 48, of Chauvin was driving a 1994 Ford Aspire east just west of Bobcat Lane when he entered a left-hand curve.
Guidry failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the center-line into the westbound lane, and struck a westbound 2006 Ford pickup.
Guidry was killed and his passenger, Gena Rumore, 49, of Montegu was injured.
The driver of the pickup, John Arnold, 36, of Gray had minor injuries.
