Huey Comeaux Jr., 44, of Amelia and Linda Fountain, 49, were recovered separately after an extensive search by the St Mary, St. Martin and Assumption Parish sheriff's departments, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the U.S. Coast Guard.
The lone survivor, Joseph Fountain, 51, of Lucedale, Miss., was reported to be wearing a life vest and swam to shore.
The preliminary investigation, being conducted by the LDWF, indicates their 16-foot skiff may have conducted an abrupt turn, crossing its own wake and causing it to overturn, according to LDWF Public Information Officer Adam Einck. The incident occurred around 2:44 a.m. Saturday.
It is unknown why the trio was boating at that early hour. Visibility, Einck said, was fair although weather conditions were cloudy.
It is standard protocol to draw blood from the deceased as well as any survivors in an accident of this nature to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident, Einck said.
Comeaux's body was located at 11 a.m. Saturday. Fountain's body was located at 7:57 a.m. Sunday. Both were turned over to the St. Mary Parish Coroner's Office.
