Ronald Picou, 46, of Karen Drive in Morgan City was pulled over on his street at 3:30 p.m. after he failed to signal a turn, Sheriff Mark Hebert said. Narcotics Task Force deputies received permission to search his vehicle and found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
The officers soon learned that Picou had swallowed some crack before his arrest. He was then taken to Franklin Foundation Hospital, where he was being treated today. He will be booked into the parish jail when he is released from the hospital.
Elsewhere, Napolian Webb, 26, of Wise Street in Patterson was arrested Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. for obscenity and theft by shoplifting.
A deputy was called to Walmart in Bayou Vista in reference to an indecent behavior complaint. Upon the deputy’s arrival, store security said Webb was observed exposing himself in one of the aisles of the store and was seen throwing under a shelf a wash cloth that he had taken from the store, Hebert said.
The deputy located Webb in the parking lot and detained him while an investigation was conducted. Webb was then placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.
In Patterson, police arrested Shantell Blackburn Gant of Cleveland Street on Wednesday at 12:35 a.m. for aggravated domestic battery and disturbing the peace while intoxicated.
Also in Patterson, police arrested David Paul Crow, 18, of Cedarwood Drive in New Iberia on Sunday at 2:37 a.m. for second offense possession of marijuana. Officers saw Crow driving away from the residence of a known drug dealer, Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
Gant and Crow were both released Wednesday on bond.
In another Sunday arrest, Steve Reynoza, 57, of Fifth Street in Morgan City was taken into custody at 12:18 p.m. for speeding, driving without a license and possession of cocaine.
A deputy patrolling Lake Palourde Road observed Reynoza’s vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect didn’t have his driver’s license with him. A search of Reynoza’s person uncovered two rocks of crack cocaine, Hebert said.
Reynoza was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond set.
