PATTERSON — Two men died in an early morning Patterson accident today on U.S. 90.

A 1999 Buick driven by George Williams, 69, of Patterson attempted to cross U.S. 90 at Veterans Drive around 6:35 a.m., when he collided with a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Ronnie K. Milton, 54, of New Iberia, according to Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle.

The Buick continued to spin several times across the median and into oncoming traffic where it was again struck by a 2007 Volvo 18-wheeler, LaSalle said. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, and his name was not released.

Milton was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams was pronounced dead at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City a short time later.

Andrea Ducre of Patterson said she was in her car at the intersection when the collision occurred.

“It literally happened so fast I don’t know,” she said of how the wreck occurred.

“It was almost a head on,” she said “it looked like a head on. It was weird because it couldn’t have been a head on.”

Ducre said she was waiting in her car on Veterans Drive on the south side of U.S. 90 when the wreck occurred.

“Like an explosion, that was how it was,” she said.
