Thursday brought the largest number of voters yet in the early voting period for the March 24 primary.

There were 58 voters Thursday, including 30 in Franklin and 28 in Morgan City, bringing the total in the voting period to 328.

There were 118 mailed ballots received by the registrar’s offices prior to the opening of the early voting period Saturday. Voting in person prior to Thursday tallied 29 Saturday, 38 Monday, 37 Tuesday and 48 Wednesday.

The March 24 primary ballot includes presidential candidates and a Republican state committee position.

Early voting continues through Saturday at the registrar’s offices at the courthouse in Franklin and 301 Third St. in Morgan City.
