Mail ballots continued trickling in Wednesday at the St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voters’ offices for Saturday’s election.

On Wednesday, 11 more ballots were received — seven votes were received via mail at the Franklin office at the Parish Courthouse and four at the branch office on Third Street in Morgan City — boosting the number of early voters to 546.

Of the votes cast thus far, 11 were received before early voting began, 61 were received after early voting concluded and 474 more were cast in person from Nov. 5-12.

Polls for the election open Saturday at 6 a.m. with one question on the ballot for most parish voters, a constitutional amendment banning taxes and government fees on real estate transactions.

Voters in Morgan City also will decide whether or not to institute a 0.3 percent sales tax for road repairs.
