Almost 150 people have already cast votes in Louisiana’s party primaries.

Early voting for the state’s March 24 presidential primaries opened Saturday with 29 people casting ballots in person at the registrar’s offices at the Courthouse in Franklin and at 301 Third St. in Morgan City. Of those, nine voted in Franklin and 20 voted in Morgan City.

The registrar received 118 mailed ballots prior to the opening of the early voting period, 75 in Franklin and 43 in Morgan City, bringing the total votes cast so far to 147.

Early voting continues through Saturday at both registrar’s offices. In addition to presidential candidates, a seat on the Republican state executive committee is also up for grabs.
