Louisiana State Trooper Steven Hammons, above, and Third Ward Court Marshal David McCoy made presentations to Franklin High School’s driver education class. The topics discussed were Louisiana driving laws, distracted driving, cell phone use, driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics and other common mistakes made by drivers. Trooper Hammons said that texting while driving is a major cause of serious accidents and in fact is illegal in Louisiana.
