Edwin Edwards to highlight homeless shelter fund-raising event

CROWLEY – An evening with former Gov. Edwin Edwards will launch a homeless shelter’s fund-raising campaign this year.

Edwards will be mingle with guests at a cocktail reception in Le Grande Hall at the Grand Opera House on Saturday, March 10.

The will raise funds for The Welcome House, a homeless shelter funded completely by private donors.

The shelter, on La. 13 north of Crowley, operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, housing approximately 65 homeless men, women and children.

The facility is staffed by volunteers, who fill the roles of director, managers, cooks, housemen, clothing organizers and laundry personnel. No one receives a salary.

Tickets to the event are $250 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
