A Eunice man has been charged with child pornography and computer aided solicitation of a minor by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.

He also faces a charge of sexual battery following an investigation by Eunice Police juvenile detectives.

Scott Martel, 22, of 1401 W. Park Ave., came to the attention of law enforcement agencies in Montana conducting an internet child predator sweep.

Martel was allegedly soliciting underage children for sexual purposes.

The state AG office was contacted and provided with evidence, after which they executed a search warrant, in cooperation with Eunice Police Friday afternoon.

During the search, law enforcement allegedly found pornographic pictures and videos involving juveniles on Martel’s computer and elsewhere.

Martel’s computer was seized for analysis by information technology specialists with the AG office.

Martel was charged with pornography involving a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.

Eunice Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are are pending in other jurisdictions.

If convicted, Martel could face up to 10 years in prison and would be required to register as a sex offender.
