A Eunice man died at a hospital from injuries suffered about sunrise Monday.

State Police said a truck crossed the center line at the La. 13-La. 29 curve-intersection and hit another shortly before 7 a.m.

According to investigating troopers, 24-year-old Tommy Dore of Church Point, was driving a 2011 Dodge truck south on LA Highway 13.

A 1996 Dodge truck, driven by 21-year-old Adam Meaux of Eunice, was approaching Dore. For reasons still under investigation, Dore crossed the center line and struck Meaux’s vehicle head on.

Dore, who was properly restrained, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Meaux was critically injured and was also transported to an area hospital where he died.

Troopers are working to determine if Meaux was properly restrained when the crash occurred.

While it is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers. The samples have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
