Erath’s Cole Bourque returned the opening kickoff 95 yards just 13 seconds into the opening stanza, giving EHS a 6-0 lead.
The Hornets’ defense swarmed while the offense caught fire, duplicating their early second recipes for comeback victories.
Early in the second quarter, FSHS’ Brandon McFarlane rushed 28 yards for the first of his two touchdowns, helping the Hornets knot the game at 6-6 with 10:02 showing on the clock in the second quarter.
McFarlane led the Hornets in rushing with 15 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Franklin’s offensive unit rushed 36 times for 212 yards on the ground and 4 of 7 passes for 95 yards through the air for 307 total yards on the night.
Franklin quarterback Micheal Poledore, who ran five times for 34 yards on the night, gave the Hornets a 14-6 lead with 2:29 remaining in the second stanza. Poledore broke free on a 21-yard scoring jaunt before firing a dart to Derrick Kelly on the two-point conversion as FSHS garnered a 14-6 victory.
Franklin scored 23 unanswered points in the second half, rolling to the 37-6 victory. McFarlane scored on a 28-yard scamper while Damien Bowie hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Poledore before Marlon Brown scored on a 10-yard interception return to cap the second half scoring spree for the Hornets.
McFarlane led the way for the Hornets in rushing with 15 totes for 123 yards and two scores. Poledore and Damien Bowie had identical five carries for 34 yards with Poledore scoring one touchdown. LaShon Johnson ran six times for 23 yards while Zach Stewart and Jarion Brown carried two times for 3 yards and Brian Robertson had 1 carry for 2 yards.
Poledore connected on 4 of 7 passes for 95 yards and one touchdowns while Raheem Robertson went 0-for-1 with one interception.
Kelly caught two passes for 50 yards while Damien Bowie hauled in a pass for a 44-yard touchdown and Lashon Johnson caught one pass for one yard.
Franklin (3-5, 2-2) returns home on Friday after four road games over the past month. Franklin will play host to the Patterson Lumberjacks on Friday in District 9-3A at J. C. Dry Stadium.
