NORTH VERMILION AT FSHS
Franklin hosts North Vermilion in District 9-3A tonight with both in front of the Cox Television Regional Game of the Week audience.
Franklin is coming off last Friday’s 44-22 setback at the hands of the Abbeville Wildcats while North Vermilion visits Franklin following their home 31-14 victory over the Patterson Lumberjacks in the District 9-3A opener.
“This is big,” Franklin Coach J. Ina said. “I was surprised that we are playing in the Cox Regional Game of the Week. We were chosen and it shows we are an up and coming program. We have the potential to have a breakout year and this will be a good matchup.”
While gearing up for tonight’s big contest, Ina stated questionable calls and penalities led to the Hornets’ downfall in last week’s loss to Abbeville in the district opener.
“There were a bunch of calls which put us in a hole,” Ina said. “There were penalities that happened and were not explained while most were on the other sideline.”
Ina also stated the Hornets hurt themselves by making many mistakes which kept putting them in a huge hole.
Franklin entertains North Vermilion tonight in District 9-3A at 7 at J. C. Dry Stadium.
BASILE AT HMS
The Hanson Memorial Tigers will host Basile in a non-district contest tonight after coming off last Thursday’s victory over Delcambre in front of the KWBJ cameras at McCloskey Field.
Hanson defeated the Delcambre Panthers 28-26 last Thursday on the road in Delcambre for their second consecutive victory.
Hanson plays host to Basile tonight at 7 at McCloskey Field.
WEST ST. MARY AT WALKER
The West St. Mary Wolfpack enter tonight’s road contest at Walker looking for their first win of the season after dropping a 21-20 loss to the Kaplan Pirates last week at Wolfpack Stadium.
West St. Mary is currently 0-4 following last week’s narrow setback.
During last week’s loss to Kaplan, West St. Mary used big plays to trim a huge deficit down to one point. West St. Mary’s Trevell Dixon tossed a 75-yard scoring strike to Devron Charatain along with a 48-yard TD pass to Adonis Sterling while Dixon ran five yards for the Wolfpack scoring.
West St. Mary will travel tonight to battle Walker in non-district action.
