Lacassine (39-2) was led by Madyson Brasseaux’s 11 points and three rebounds, while Abbie Melanson scored eight points.

Riding a hot-shooting opening period that included five 3-pointers, Fairview put the game away early as it jumped out to a 13-4 lead and held a commanding 21-8 advantage after the first quarter.

The Lady Panthers built as big as a 35 lead at one point and never trailed.

Madison Prep wins state title over Simsboro 53-37

Behind 16 points by Brandon Sampson, Madison Prep captured the 2013 LHSAA Class B Boys State Championship with a 53-37 win against Simsboro Wednesday night in Monroe.

The Chargers trailed 6-2 early but rallied to a 7-6 lead with 3:54 to go in the opening quarter on a Brandon Sampson free throw. Madison Prep led the rest of the way.
