The board of directors for the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival will meet tonight to decide what to do about approaching Tropical Storm Isaac.
“We have made no decisions at this point,” said Nathalie Weber, board president.
“We’re going to stay calm, look at what everyone is telling us, and make decisions as to what we need to do.”
This is the second consecutive year that the annual festival is threatened and affected by a tropical storm.
Tropical Storm Lee struck last year during the festival, dumping plenty of rain on southern Louisiana.
“We were already set up and ready to go, and it came in,” Weber said.
“We didn’t have the same attendance levels as usual, and we weren’t able to have some of the activities because of the rain,” she said.
The Street Parade and the fireworks display had to be postponed from Sunday to Monday due to Tropical Storm Lee.
The board meets at 5:30 p.m.
