MORGAN CITY, La. -- The Friday edition of The Daily Review includes, in the fold of advertisements, a bag stamped earlier this week by one of several high school Key Club volunteers associated with the East St. Mary Kiwanis Club, which has sponsored an Election Day Food Drive for more than 20 years.

“We would like to encourage the community to bring non-perishable goods to the polling places when they go to vote,” Bernadine Morgan, Kiwanis Key Club Coordinator, said.

“The items may be placed in the receptacles at each location,” she said. “The non-perishable items will be given to St. Mary Outreach for distribution.”

The student volunteers came from Morgan City High and Berwick High schools, and the bags were donated by Cannata’s Supermarket in Morgan City.

“Some examples of items needed are canned meat, chili, spaghetti meatballs, soups, baby formula, diapers, peanut butter, cold cereals, pasta, dry beans, rice, flour and sugar,” Morgan said.
