While exploring his aunt’s attic in Franklin, Christian Henry found a stack of loose documents, photos and some possible family history. An Oct. 16, 1917 copy of the New Orleans Daily States was folded in the stack, crisp and brittle but mostly intact. But Henry also found a portrait, possibly in charcoal, of a young woman with no identification. The paper was published by Henry J. Hearsey, a former Major in the Confederate Army. As for the unidentified portrait, Henry says his feelings are that the young lady is an ancestor, a member of his family from the past.
