CENTERVILLE — Houma Christian Lady Warriors, Hanson Memorial’s Lady Tigers, Loreauville’s Tigers and the Morgan City Tigers all posted first day victories in the annual Tourney of the Teche here Thursday at the Centerville High School Gymnasium.

In the opener, the Houma Christian Lady Warriors strolled past the Loreauville Lady Tigers 60-29.

Hanson Memorial’s Lady Tigers rolled by the Centerville Lady Bulldogs, 58-38, in the second contest.

In the boys’ opening game, the Loreauville Tigers outlasted the Centerville Bulldogs, 70-67, prior to the Morgan City Tigers earning a 53-40 win over the Franklin Hornets in the nightcap.

ACTION SLATED TODAY in the round robin tournament, includes the Loreauville Lady Tigers taking on the Centerville Lady Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Houma Christian Lady Warriors will play the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers. The Morgan City Tigers will square off against the Loreauville Tigers at 6:30 p.m. before the Franklin Hornets battle the Centerville Bulldogs in the nightcap.

FOUR GAMES ARE ALSO scheduled for Saturday with Houma Christian playing the Centerville Lady Bulldogs at noon. At 1:30 p.m., the Hanson Lady Tigers will square off against the Loreauville Lady Tigers. The Franklin Hornets and the Loreauville Tigers will do battle at 3 p.m. before the Morgan City Tigers and Centerville Bulldogs wrap up action in at 4:30 p.m. in the annual Tourney of the Teche.

HOUMA CHRISTIAN 60, LOREAUVILLE 29

Blair Ringo, Kendra Turner and Alicia Johnson combined for 46 points to lead the Houma Christian Lady Warriors to a 60-29 victory.

Tyler Gaddison led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

HMS LADY TIGERS 58, CHS LADY BULLDOGS 38

The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers earned a 13-1 first quarter lead and never looked back in pinning a 58-38 setback on the Centerville Lady Bulldogs.

Macie Guillotte led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 18 points while Brittany Broussard also scored in double digits with 10 points. Rounding out the scoring for the Hanson Lady Tigers were: Emily Sonnier, 9; Kim Sonnier, 8; Katie Sonnier, 6; Mallory Chiasson, 5 and Olivia Luke, 2.

Chiasson and Guillotte both made good on one trey each for the Lady Tigers.

LOREAUVILLE 70, CENTERVILLE 67

The Loreauville Tigers benefited from a 46-35 second half rally to subdue the Centerville Bulldogs, 70-67.

Centerville opened with a 17-13 lead in the opening stanza before grabbing a 32-27 advantage at the half. Loreauville knotted the game at 47-47 with a 20-15 run in the third quarter. Down the stretch, Loreauville went on a 23-20 run to pull out the narrow victory by a 70-67 margin.

Raymond Bonnette led Loreauville with 28 points while John Reed fired in 18 points and Kyle Francois finished with 12 points.

Rodrick Taylor tossed in a team-high 26 points for the Bulldogs while Laroy Gant tallied 20 and Zacchaeus Jackson fired in 12. Quinton Nettles also finished with four points for the Bulldogs.

MORGAN CITY 53, FRANKLIN 40

The Morgan City Tigers rolled to a 53-40 win over the Franklin Hornets.

Jaylen J. led Morgan City with 17 point.

Franklin’s Avery Bell fired in a game-high 23 points. Other top scorers for the Hornets were: Michael Poledore, 6; Jarion Brown, 5; Trevon Anderson, 2; Brennan Robinson, 2 and Cedric Paul, 2.
