Installation of officers was held at the monthly meeting of the Franklin Golden Age Club on Tuesday, January 17 at the Franklin Senior Center on Iberia Street with thirty-seven members in attendance.

President-elect Floyd LeBlanc opened the meeting. EmmaDel Broussard said the prayer and Howard Winston led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary EmmaDel Broussard read the minutes from the December meeting and Treasurer Floyd LeBlanc gave the treasury report.

District Representative and club member Howard Winston presided at the installation of officers of the club. Installed as officers for 2012 were Floyd LeBlanc, President; Linda Darce, Vice-president; EmmaDel Broussard, Secretary and Virgie Price, Treasurer.

Chairperson Jeanette Clements, assisted by Sue Payne, handled the drawing for Secret Pals for 2012. Those participating should remember their secret pal on important dates throughout the year.

Discussion was held regarding possible day trips the club members, as a group, would like to take during the year. More will be discussed at future meetings.

Club members welcomed Jack Thibodeaux, John and Verline Keenze and Carrie Narcisse Stewart as new members of the club. A membership drive is continuing and dues for current members are being collected for 2012. Visitor to the meeting was Sam Yoshido.

Celebrating birthdays in January are Elise Breaux, Clifton Broussard, Martha Gardner, Charlene LeBlanc and Marcelle Simpson.

Due to the Mardi Gras holiday, the next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, February 28 and will include a covered dish meal.
