Franklin City Council Council members meet Tuesday in regular session for February.

Before the regular meeting, at 5:45 p.m., there will be a special session set for signing of a purchase agreement of the former E.A. Crowell Elementary School, currently leased by the city from the St. Mary Parish School Board. City hall is located in that building.

During the regular meeting, Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois is expected to give a report on the city’s fire hydrants.

A representative of the Bayou Teche Bear Festival is also slated to speak.

The council will consider introduction of ordinance amending current operating and capital outlay budgets and introducing both of the same budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.

There are resolutions for engaging engineers for renovations to city hall; an application for a sidewalks grant; a request to BNSF Railroad Company requesting repairs to the crossing at Iberia Street and the barricade on Martin Luther King Boulevard; and allowing Techeland Arts Council to sell alcohol during their production of “Bayou Storm Rising” in April and May.
