A ribbon cutting was held Monday for the reopening of the newly renovated Alex P. Allain Branch of the St. Mary Parish Library in Franklin. Local and state officials, including Senator Bret Allain, nephew of Alex P. Allain, as well as library staff from throughout the parish, Chamber of Commerce members, library board members and other members of the community were on hand for the celebration. The $2.25 million renovation of the 58-year-old building was funded with Louisiana capital outlay money and took just over a year to complete. St. Mary Parish Library Director Julie Champagne Vidos and SMP Library Board President Cherie Laiche are pictured above cutting the ribbon. Below, members of the community enjoyed tours of the newly renovated library during the event provided by library staff.
