The Alex P. Allain Library branch building in Franklin officially reopened for public use this morning, following an extensive renovation. In addition to a complete selection of current best-sellers, reference books, newspapers and magazines, the library now offers 13 new computers for patrons use and a vast selection of current DVDs and audio books. According to Franklin Branch Manager Patty Robicheaux, more new furniture and new books are still on order, with arrivals daily. Pictured in the new Children’s Room is Sharon Splane, who brought children from her Harmony House Childcare to tour the renovated facility. If interested in scheduling a tour for your group, phone Robicheaux at 337-828-5364, ext. 21. Weekday hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. to noon. The $2.2 million project is funded with proceeds from a bond package approved by voters in October 2008 that is secured by the system’s 1.25-mill maintenance and capital improvement property tax.
