Free workshop Thursday offers producers seafood marketing tips

A free workshop sponsored by the LSU AgCenter to help seafood producers get their products to market and to comply with regulations will be Thursday at the Shrimp Festival building in Delcambre.

From 10 a.m. until noon, the class will be given in Vietnamese, and the English class will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. A lunch will be served from noon until 1 p.m.

Topics will include labor training for commercial fishers, how to find workers, labor challenges, communication for direct marketing and quality issues for the seafood industry.

A drawing for $100 in free fuel will be held. To win, registrants must have a valid Louisiana commercial fishing license and photo identification.
