PATTERSON — Openings still are available for the Krewe of Galatea’s fourth annual golf tournament, which will be held Friday at Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson.

The format will be an 18-hole scramble comprised of 30, three-man teams. Each team will be paired with another during the tournament.

There will be one tee time, at 1 p.m.

If the field is complete with 30 teams, it will be “flighted” into three flights, tournament director Bill Marin said, consisting of a championship, first and second flights.

The top three teams from each flight will be awarded prizes, while longest drive and closest to the hole winners will be named, too.

“The most popular type of scramble seems to be the format where two teams must play together during competition,” Marin said. “Also, the tournaments that don’t fill up the course with teams are also popular because the course is not crowded and play is completed in a reasonable amount of time. The krewe is using this tournament as a fund raiser, but most importantly, we want the whole event format to be an enjoyable outing not only for the golfers who compete, but also for the krewe members who host the tournament day.”

Entry forms will be in today and Thursday’s edition of The Daily Review. Interested team sponsors can contact Marin at 985-395-8112, also.

Ocean Marine Contractors is a major corporate sponsor of this year’s event, and Marin said the krewe is “very appreciative” of this support provided by Tommy and Donna Cheramie.

Sponsors of the food/beverage tents are AJ, Randy and Joey Dohmann, Cannata’s Market (Steve Domangue) and Bob Opperman, Keith Langley and Charlie Solar.
