Gas plant explosion forces evacuations

Residents within one mile of the CDM Max natural gas refinery plant southwest of Eunice were evacuated after an explosion early Friday afternoon.

The plant is at 4905 Fournerat Road.

A number of first responders are on scene and special haz mat crews are reported enroute.

By 2:30 p.m., the fire was out and residents were being allowed to return to their homes.

At least one person was reported injured by persons on the scene.
