Governale receives literacy seed grant

VERONICA GOVERNALE, a kindergarten teacher at J.B. Maitland Elementary School in Morgan City, has been named the 2012 recipient of an Epsilon State Literacy Seed Grant for St. Mary Parish Chi Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Epsilon State, Louisiana’s organization of Delta Kappa Gamma, is dedicated to supporting special projects related to learning and literacy. The society’s Competitive Literacy Grant is an official project of the organization offering members the chance to apply for funds to increase literacy and educational achievement. Governale, right, was awarded $200 to be used to purchase literacy-related materials and equipment for her kindergarten classroom. Alecia Rabalais, Chi Chapter first vice president, presented the award.
