GUEYDAN – A man has been charged with fatally stabbing his father during an argument at their home.

A 911 call lead to a stabbing investigation in the late hours of Monday July 25.

The Gueydan Police Department was called to 1508 North Fourth Street. Upon arrival GPD officers found 54 year old Maxie Amy, Sr., lying on his living room floor unresponsive with several stab wounds to his body. Amy was pronounced dead on the scene.

After a short investigation GPD officers were able to determine that a disturbance took place between Amy and his son, Maxie Amy, Jr.

At some point during the evening an argument began and the son armed himself with a knife and stabbed the father several times before fleeing the scene on foot.

After an approximate two hour search and lockdown of the area the younger Amy turned himself in to the Gueydan Police Department where he was taken into custody without incident.

Maxie Amie Jr. was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on a charge of second degree murder.
