Work is progressing rapidly on a new gymnasium for Central Catholic High School in Morgan City. The new gymnasium is being constructed just east of the Sam A. Siracusa gymnasium where athletic events, physical education classes and other activities are held. The facility’s construction is being funded as part of the Vision 2012 joint effort between Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross Elementary School and CCHS. Roger McChargue, whose company, Roger McChargue Construction in Gray, planned, designed and now is constructing the project, said this morning that a lot of site work that supports the gym, such as sewer and water line work, is ongoing as well as interior work. He said the basketball goals should be installed in a few weeks. The gym is scheduled for completion by late this summer. More than $9.6 million has been raised in the Vision 2012 campaign, which encompasses three phases.
