The Patterson boys’ basketball team won its sixth straight game on Tuesday with a 84-16 win over Berwick.

The Lumberjacks are now 12-1 overall and 2-0 in District 9-3A.

Berwick falls to 1-15, 0-2 with the loss.

Patterson jumped out to an early 27-5 lead after a quarter and didn’t allow more than five points in a quarter the rest of the way.

Devin Tabor and Palmer Cox led Berwick with five points each and Daniel Gray, Joe Francois and Brandon Naverro added two points each.

The Panthers were scheduled to play North Vermilion on Friday, but the game has been moved to Jan. 18. Berwick will travel to Morgan City (10-9) on Tuesday.

Patterson will face Kaplan (5-9) on Friday at home.

Tigers down Wolfpack

The Morgan City boys’ basketball team overcame a sluggish start to beat West St. Mary, 77-33, on Tuesday.

WSM (4-9) trailed by just a point after the first quarter before the Tigers pulled away.

Tyrin Watts led the Tigers with a double double on 32 points and 16 rebounds; Jalen Johnson had 16 points; Jaylen Jones, Brannon Randle and Malcolm Watkins added six points each and Ryan Veillion had four points.

The Tigers wrap up non-district play with a trip to Centerville (9-10) on Friday and they host Berwick (1-15) on Tuesday. The District 8-4A schedule begins next Friday against Ellender (13-6) at home.

Three score in double figures for CCHS

The Central Catholic boys basketball team had three starters score in double figures in a 71-41 win over Ascension Catholic.

Lloyd Grogan had 16, Josh Singleton had 14 and Dontrell Brown 12 in the dominant Eagles’ win.

After a successful third place run at the Sunkist Shootout, the Eagles will get back to the tough part of its schedule on Friday against Ellender (13-6) in Houma. The Patriots finished second in the Sunkist Shootout last week and feature one of the biggest posts in the state in 6-foot-9 senior Gilbert Talbot.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lady Eagles keep on rolling

The Central Catholic girls basketball team keeps on winning.

Tuesday night it was Ascension Catholic that got in the way of the Lady Eagles and they lost 82-35.

Randi Brown led the team with 18 points, Meo Knight and Makayla McDaniels added 16, Geralyn Garret added eight, and Brienna Hill had seven.

The Lady Eagles will face Class 4A Ellender (7-5) on Friday in Houma.
