Hanson (4-6) notched its second league win of the season to improve to 2-2 in District 8-A.
Drake Businelle, who led the Tigers in rushing with 16 carries for 147 yards, gave HMS an 8-0 lead halfway through the opening quarter. Businelle hit paydirt from seven yards out before tacking on the two-point conversion, lifting HMS outfront by an 8-0 score with 5:23 showing on the clock.
HMS’ Collin Broussard scored on a 39-yard scamper, sending the Tigers to a 14-8 advantage at the 3:34 mark of the first period.
Broussard, who rushed for 156 yards on nine attempts, rambled 29 yards for his second score of the game which lifted the Tigers outfront by a 20-16 margin. Royce Norton added the two-point conversion, giving HMS the 22-16 lead with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter.
Broussard raced 29 yards for his third touchdown on the night, sending HMS out to a 36-24 lead before Drake Businelle added the two-point conversion which handed the Tigers a 38-24 advantage in the final period.
HMS’ John Jumonville scored on a one-yard run while Collin Broussard found daylight on the two-point conversion, giving the Tigers the 46-32 victory over Gueydan.
Businelle led the Tigers in rushing with 16 carries for 147 yards along with another 153 yards on kickoff returns. Broussard scored three times while racking up 156 yards on nine attempts. Drake Rodriguez ran five times for 105 yards while Royce Norton had six carries for 26 yards.
Drake Rodriguez completed seven passes for 125 yards with Norton reeling in three passes for 67 yards while Drake Businelle had three catches for 28 yards and Jacob Steward making one catch for 30 yards.
HMS finished the regular season with a 4-6 overall record which includes a 2-2 district mark.
