A native of Portland, Ark., longtime resident of Morgan City and current resident of New Iberia, Mr. Scott died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at 8:58 a.m. at Azalea Estates in New Iberia.
Mr. Scott worked as an oilfield salesman. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge in New Iberia, a past member and past Master of the Doric Lodge in Morgan City. He was also a member of the St. Mary Shrine Club in Morgan City and Acacia Shrine Temple of Baton Rouge. Mr. Harvey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morgan City and a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Scott and wife Jean of New Iberia; a daughter-in-law, Faye Scott of New Orleans; grandchildren, Lisa S. Beaubouef and husband Bret of Castle Rock, Colo., Robert Scott and wife Shelly of Baton Rouge, Kristy Gilpin and husband Brandon of Baton Rouge, Katie Scott of Lafayette, and Michael Scott of Denver, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mosley Scott; a son, Bobby Scott; his parents, John D. Scott Sr. and Mamie Ophelia Sutton Scott; and two brothers, John D. Scott Jr. and Louis Ray Scott.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Red Adams and sons will be honorary pallbearers.
