St. Mary Community Action Agency Inc. and the Krewe of Head Start is planning its 18th Annual Head Start Parade.

Each year, the parade is an event where the entire community is invited to participate and to help recruit new Head Start families and students.

The Head Start Parade is the single most important recruitment tool for pre-school children ages 3-5, according to CAA officials.

Former Franklin Senior High School basketball standout Alexis Rack will be the grand marshal this year.

The parade will be held on Feb. 2 in Franklin. The line-up will begin at 11 a.m. in the gated parking lot at Franklin Senior High School. The parking lot is located near the gymnasium at 1401 Cynthia St.

This year the parade route will be a total of 2 miles of fun and excitement.

After leaving FSHS the parade will travel down Main Street to Willow Street and will make a final turn onto Third Street where the parade will end.

Entry fees are:

Floats and flatbeds, $35

Trucks and cars, $25

Dance and drill teams, $20

Motorcycles and horses, $10

Walkers, $5
