Hephaestus crowns 2012 royalty

The Krewe of Hephaestus presented Warren Stephen “Steve” Orlando and Caitlyn Elise Bourgeois as King and Queen Hephaestus LII on Saturday. Bourgeois is the daughter of Dr. Robert and Tari Bourgeois. On Feb. 18, Mr. Warren Stephen “Steve” Orlando and Miss Caitlyn Elise Bourgeois, daughter of Dr. Robert and Mrs. Tari Bourgeois, reigned as King and Queen Hephaestus LII over the royal court of Morgan City’s oldest krewe. The 2012 Captain of Hephaestus, Mrs. Tari Bourgeois, depicted Taimanua.

The theme of the 2012 court and ball was “The Call of South Pacific.” The maids and dukes represented various features of the South Pacific. Representing Black Pearls were Mr. Troy Osburn and Miss Darby Louise Isham, daughter of Donald and Amy Isham. Representing Birds of the South Pacific were Mr. Ryan Thomas Cheramie and Miss Sissy Marie Cheramie, daughter of Tommy and Donna Cheramie. Representing Fish of the South Pacific were Dr. Trey Morice and Miss Paige Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of David and Hope Johnson. Representing Oceans and Waves were Mr. Will Brightman Kornegay and Miss Chelsea Adams, daughter of Burt and Jodi Adams. Representing Coral Reefs were Mr. Kenny Hebert and Miss Anne Lee Parsiola, daughter of Dr. Charles and Mrs. Lisa Parsiola. Representing Tropical Flowers were Mr. Brian Wiggins and Miss Catherine Elizabeth Parsiola, daughter of Dr. Charles and Mrs. Lisa Parsiola.

Pages to his majesty were Masters Luke Anthony Deloach, son of Bryant and Beth Deloach, and Gregory James Hamer III, son of Gregory and Shannon Hamer II. Pages to her majesty were Misses Dru Elizabeth Fraley, daughter of Jeremy and Annette Fraley, and Hailey Marie Janos, daughter of Pat and Angela Janos.

Court heralds were Masters Taylor James Deloach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Deloach, and Xavier J. Hargroder, grandson of Mike and Joan Bezard. Gift bearers were Miss Jenna Claire Fraley, daughter of Jeremy and Annette Fraley and Master Brock Ethan Theriot, son of Gregory and Christine Theriot.

Knights of Hephaestus were Messrs. Duane Aucoin, Ken Conrad, Greg Hamer Jr. and Michael Wise.

King LII Warren Orlando grew up in Morgan City, where he graduated from Morgan City High School. He is the son of the late Warren (Peewee) Orlando and Joyce Skinner Orlando. In 1982, Mr. Orlando began a long and successful career in the oilfield service industry. His interests included the Allison Companies of six oilfield entities including Allison Marine Contractors Inc. of Morgan City and JAB Energy Solutions Inc. of Houston. These companies have grown to be among the worldwide leaders in platform decommissioning, refurbishment, fabrication and installation. In 2011, the Allison Companies were acquired by affiliates of Lincolnshire Management Inc., a private equity company. Mr. Orlando actively serves as the executive officer for the Allison Companies.

Mr. Orlando is a former commissioner of the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District and recently was the major sponsor of “Bella’s Believers” an Acadiana-wide fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mr. Orlando and the Allison Companies have been very active in numerous community endeavors and various charitable organizations throughout Acadiana. Mr. Orlando is married to the former Lisa Carriere and they are the parents of five children and the grandparents of eight. Mr. and Mrs. Orlando maintain residences in Morgan City and Lafayette, and Destin, Fla.

Queen LII Caitlyn Bourgeois is a junior at LSU. She plans to graduate in 2014 with a master’s degree in Education. Ms. Bourgeois is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bourgeois of Morgan City. Her father was the 1996 Captain of Hephaestus. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Melvin Bourgeois also of Morgan City. Her Grandfather was the 25th Anniversary King of Hephaestus. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Goegan of Alliance, Ohio. Ms. Bourgeois’ family has long been active in the krewe, as her uncles have been dukes, her aunts have been maids and one aunt was a previous Queen of Hephaestus.

The court and ball were held in the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.

Entertainment for the court was provided by Dance World.

Following the ball, breakfast was served.
